Method, version 1.0

How we work out Employer Standing

A 0 to 100 measure of how far a sponsor can be relied on, built only from public registers.

What it is

Employer Standing answers one question: can an HR team or a candidate rely on this employer as a sponsor? Higher is better. It is Employer Standing version 1.0, recomputed daily. Every profile lists each input with its value, its effect on the score, its source and the date it was checked.

What goes in

Only objective facts from official registers. No inference, no sentiment and no third-party reviews.

Licence

  • Home Office rating is A
  • No removal from the published register in the last 24 months
  • Length of time the licence has been on the register

Company

  • Company is active at Companies House
  • Accounts and confirmation statements filed on time
  • Age of the company
  • No insolvency history or Gazette notice

Sector, only where it applies

  • CQC registration and rating
  • FSA hygiene rating
  • Charity Commission registration
  • Data-protection fee registration
  • Modern Slavery statement, where the company files large accounts
  • Gender pay gap report, where the company files large accounts
  • Public contracts won

A sector input counts only where the law or the sector makes it relevant. One that does not apply is neither a plus nor a minus and is shown as not applicable. A fact we cannot check is shown as not found, never as failed.

How the score is built

Every score starts at 50. Each input below adds or removes points, and the total is kept between 0 and 100. These are the version 1.0 weights.

  • Home Office ratingA +15, B −20

Bands

  • Established80 and above
  • Solid60 to 79
  • Developing40 to 59
  • Limitedunder 40
  • Unverifiedno matched company, or too little public data to score

What it is not

  • It is not the Home Office rating. The letters A and B belong to the Home Office and we never show our measure as a letter.
  • It is not legal advice and not a prediction about any licence.
  • It does not use Land Registry data or any private source.

Observation period

We have compared published copies of the register since 16 May 2026. Dates such as “first seen” start from there; licences already listed on that day carry that date as the earliest we can show.
